Timothy Lake -Stunning October Sunny Day!

Three of us headed up this morning to take the 13 mile stroll around Timothy Lake. My suspicion was that the fall colors would be beautiful. I think they were probably better a couple of weeks ago but still, the trail did not disappoint. Though it was a brisk start, we had shed a couple of layers by noon and at times, it felt like summer. The water level was extremely low but that didn't take away from the beauty in any way. This is such a perfect trail when you don't want too much elevation change but you want the length. We had the trail to ourselves most of the time, passing only a handful of people the entire day. The fish were jumping and the geese were lounging. I felt like I was experiencing a bit of paradise today. Perfect.

Hi, I always forget about that hike because of the summer crowds. I'm putting it on my fall list for when my body doesn't really want any elevation. What was you start point? I've usually gone in via Little Crater lake. Thanks for putting that on my fall radar.

Woodswalker, we parked right before the dam, crossed it and started clockwise around the lake. We almost had the place to ourselves and it was really beautiful. Don't miss it! I love this hike for it's length and beauty.
