Great TR...but no pics of you & who ever was with you? Just kidding.
I hope to get out there with EP again when he retires from being retired.
EP has Casey Creek 2500' in 2 miles!

Not a speck of snow anywhere. We only went up to about 4100 feet so I can't vouch for Green Point.obera wrote:Is the snow gone from the Gorton Creek Trail?

That meadow on Casey Creek is really cool. Are the majority of those flowers that are pictured in front of the lupine called field mint? It is also good to know the geologic origins of the ridge and plateau as well.
There was no snow up near Green Point Mtn when we were up there the weekend before last

The little pink flowers are called plectritis, which I would much prefer be called something simple and pretty like field mint since that would be way easier to remember. Common in the hanging meadows in the gorge. It's in the valerian family. There's a coastal variety that has the common name "sea blush" so maybe we should christen it with a new and improved common name like "meadow blush".Sean Thomas wrote:That meadow on Casey Creek is really cool. Always happy to spread the truth about geomorphology. You're welcome.

Yep: Rosy plectritis. I've always hated that name.
If I remember my basic medical terminology that would mean that your plectra is red and swollen. Further work avoidance took me to google where I found that plectra is the plural of plectrum, which is a fancy word for something used to pluck a string on a musical instrument.
So I guess what you have there is a set of swollen guitar picks. Probably a good idea to ice them down and stay off of them for a week or so.
Is it 5 o'clock yet?
