Had monsoon rain alot of the day, but did manage an onsite investigation of Oregon's tallest bridge, the 345 ft tall Thomas Creek bridge. There's a trail to a viewpoint of it, but it turned up overgrown, so we bushwhacked down the hill to a slightly better view.
Looking west from the bridge. Everytime an RV blew by right behind us, the hair on my neck would stand up. It's a loooong ways down
Straight down at Thomas Creek. There was a guy climbing around on the logs, but I forget where he's at in the photo.
East
The 0.4 mile trail to the bridge viewpoint has a nice view to the south as well

wow! just wow! Excellent choice of vacation destinations. Looks like the weather cooperated nicely too. I can see where straying off trail around there would be a herculean effort, and so much extra work.

One of my friends just moved down to Grants Pass this past fall. I gotta get down there for a trip in those Redwoods, they have amazing energy and stature! I have fond memories of going there with my family when I was a kid.

Thanks guys.
Wiki says the Thomas Creek Bridge is the 16th tallest road bridge in the US. The new Crooked River bridge is 18th, old Crooked River bridge is 20th. Oregon has lots of other bridges in the top 50 in Portland and on the Columbia. This bridge tucked away down along the southern coast is the tallest in the state though

You certainly captured the spirit (and size) of those trees. I get to go down there every couple of years or so and never cease to be amazed.
