Great TR! Looks stunning.

It's so funny when I'm reading someone's trip report and then all of a sudden! rattle snake! I think it's startles me as much as it initially did you guys. lol, not really. But still.

Brad,
Great TR. Me and some buddies did the hike in Sept 2011. Much dryer but perfect weather too. We flew in from VA!! Yes there are Bears and Snakes out there. We did Mattole to Big Flat to Rattlesnake Ridge to Kings Peak then back down Bucks Creek. What a trip!! It was NOT a walk on the beach - tough hike.

We had a snake story too. Pics are attached. Watch where you stop to lay down and look at a map!

I'm bumping this thread to ask a question :D

Brad, what were the temps like when you went? I am eyeing this trip as a possibility for late May. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Carl, It's funny you brought this back up. A couple of weeks ago my wife and I went through the calendar to plan some trips, and this is one of them. We have time blocked out in the second week of May to visit the area, depending on the weather.

When Hiker Chris and I went there last year the weather was great. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid- to upper 40s, with no rain. Below is a weather chart showing the average temperatures and precipitation by month

Awesome, you rock!

I am thinking about late May, but will try to avoid Memorial day weekend if possible. I will indeed post a TR if we end up going. Thanks!

Great links, thanks Brad

That is on my list to do some day, but it's kind of far away...
