Mt Hood snow

Post by drm » June 20th, 2008, 7:24 am

With family visiting, I headed up to Timberline Lodge yesterday, expecting walls of snow on the side of the road as I got higher. There were certainly none anywhere on 35, and even on the final road to the lodge, roadside snow only appeared in the last couple of miles and it certainly wasn't the vertical walls expected. Even on the slopes above the lodge as seen from the bar, there are bare patches. There is more snow in upper Eagle Creek Canyon and Benson Plateau than at Timberline. As you can (I hope) see in the attached photo, there are many bare spots looking up. The photo is from the White River sno-park area.
