Had some fun yesterday back in my old stomping grounds - north Oregon Coast.
Explored on and off trail at Oswald West State Park near Manzanita.
The western hemlock below stacks up against any coast redwood as far as "primevel" appearance goes. I call this western hemlock:
"Jurassic Tree"
Because it looks like a dinosaur in the forest. Even looks like it has legs and joints.
Groovy trees like this seem to come compliments of the coast forest moisture that decays the old nurse stumps and logs so efficiently.
