Post by MCSAR » August 15th, 2008, 10:46 pm

Your local volunteer Search and Rescue team needs your help! Are you a motivated individual interested in training to locate and rescue members of your community in a wilderness environment? If you're an adult or youth 13 years of age or older, join the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team for an informational meeting at 7pm Wednesday, September 17th or Wednesday September 24th, at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office: on the corner of NE 122nd & Glisan in Portland. For more information, call 503-251-2541, visit MCSOSAR.com, or reply to this post.

What We Do

The primary function of Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Search and Rescue (SAR) is to perform ground searches. SAR works very closely with the Sheriff's Office and is a highly adaptive unit. Search and Rescue involves finding lost and injured hikers, hunters, climbers, skiers, children, and deceased subjects. We also search for evidence at crime scene and assist with evacuations during natural disasters. This can only be accomplished with proper training. A nine-month period begins each September; training consists of weekly meeting and monthly weekend field outings.

Who Can Join?

ANYONE!! MCSO SAR is looking for highly dedicated volunteers that will be at least 14 years old by June 1, 2009.
