50 Days: Status Report on the new site

Well, as of today it's been 50 days on the site website. So far (knock on wood) it seems that things are going quite smoothly. I did want to report a bit of status since that cutover back in June.

Since inaugurating the new website home we've had:
199 new trip reports
575 new topics overall
3266 posts in total
144 new users

Here are our site statistics for July:
Unique visitors: 6,474
Number of visits: 21,373 (689 per day)
Pages: 350,744 (11,314 per day)
Hits: 1,350,140 (43,553 per day)
Total Bandwidth: 26.70 GB

Ok so that last message was a status of what's happened so far.

The Archive:
It shouldn't be too much longer before I have the old posts from the archive moved over to the new site. You may have seem me doing some testing with the html-php conversion routines. It is not a difficult process, but it is rather tedious so it is taking awhile - especially since it's been a very busy summer so far! Nonetheless, i wanted to reassure those who had been watching for it that this is still very much on the radar screen and we'll likely be done by the end of the month.

Photo Galleries
Another question is that of gallery software to allow people to post photos to galleries right here on the site. I've noticed some shortcomings in the way that photos work on PH's right now and I'm hoping to implement something to make things even easier. We also need a permanent home for those photos/galleries that are still on the old site. It will be awhile before we implement something. I'm guessing it'll be October before we start that project.

Thanks, jeff, for making this site such a welcoming and useful gathering place for PNW hikers. I appreciate how much work it can be to play the role of chief cook and bottle washer for a web site as comprehensive as this one. You're doing a great job! And a much needed one, too. :D
