We used to have a new thread for each weekend; I notice that the most recent one kept going for about a month.
Grannyhiker and Hysson are off to Colorado and Wyoming tomorrow for a 5-day hike in northern Colorado and a 7-day hike in the Wind Rivers. This is called getting two backpacks for the price of one drive, or at least the drive between Portland and Rock Springs, WY. The locale for the Wind Rivers may change at the last minute due to a forest fire, so I'm taking the trail guides and an extra map with me, just in case I have to switch to another part of the range. I'll see you all in about 3 weeks!

Wow Grannyhiker, we look forward to hearing about that amazing trip!
If you're not sure where to venture this weekend, don't forget the many groups that have outings - don't have to be a member, check the level of the hike, bring a few dollars for the club fee and shared fuel costs for carpooling - and have a great day of hiking (or biking or paddling) and comraderie! : http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/vie ... 3224#p3224
Also don't forget about the rewarding trail tending opportunities! : http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/vie ... 2066#p2066

Have fun Grannyhiker! I'm just doing a day hike to McNeil Point with my friend from down south, who's never been on Mt Hood.

Rainer would be cool! someday we'll get there. we can't go that far, so we are planning an overnighter to somewhere close, maybe trapper creek. we want to test out some new gear - we're looking at switching to hammocks for some of our trips.

It's about as far to Rainier as it is to the Three Sisters Trail Heads!!baker9903 wrote:Rainer would be cool! someday we'll get there. we can't go that far, so we are planning an overnighter to somewhere close, maybe trapper creek. we want to test out some new gear - we're looking at switching to hammocks for some of our trips.
