Three Sisters Loop

Post by yosemite hiker » July 28th, 2008, 7:14 am

Has anybody been on the Three Sisters Loop yet this year? I'm hitting the trail on Saterday and was wondering what snow conditions were. I was talking to a guy in REI on Saturday and he had heard there were still sections with major snow. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Not sure about the loop, but We hiked the Tam MacArthur Rim on Sunday 7/27/08~ if that helps at all? There were several large patches of snow but nothing that really got in the way of getting around up there. We went to Broken Top and over looked the still-buried lake that sits below Broken Top's East side.

Today's (7/31/08) Bend Bulletin indicates that the Green Lakes trail has just opened, so that should give you an idea of trail conditions in the Three Sisters area. According to the Deschutes Natl Forest Trail conditions update (7/30/08) it still has patchy snow and has been 90% cleared of blowdown.
