Snowless giant

Seeing that little plug of ice that is the Adams Glacier - and it's been like that for a while this summer - it's got to be taking a big melt hit every year since it is like this for weeks if not months. And all that dark rock soaking up the heat.

Sorry for the low quality lo-res photo. My phone has a lousy camera if you zoom at all. This photo was taken from the viewpoint above Wapiki Lake.

There are multiple posts of this because I kept getting an error when I tried to post. The admin could please delete two of them.

Deletions are done.

Unfortunately, these gray domes are a late summer feature these days. I was even a bit startled by the lack of actual snow on Rainier when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

The glaciers looked so healthy in your Avalanche Valley report.

The Lyman Glacier looks good - it's on the north side, so I think that makes the difference.

Here's another couple of photos of Adams taken yesterday from Berry Mt.

The White Salmon glacier looks perfectly positioned to get the most abuse from the late afternoon sun!
