I was curious, so I checked the stats for Mt. Whitney day-hike applications:
  • Mon: 12.7%
  • Tue: 8.1%
  • Wed: 7.6%
  • Thu: 8.2%
  • Fri: 14.5%
  • Sat: 35.9%
  • Sun: 12.9%

Tuesday is my hiking day and I get a lot of solitude!

I frequently have Tuesday and Thursday off so those are a couple of my hiking and riding days in the summer. Barely any crowds usually, but I also tend to have limited time to hike since I'm not really a morning person and need to be home by a certain point in the early evening to get ready for work the next day. Usually only about 4-5 hours or so (maybe 6 on a long day) including the rides to and fro.

Saturday is a compromise. Crowds are like night-and-day heavy compared of midweek, but I can also stay out hiking/riding/triathlonning all afternoon (and well into the evening/after dark) without worrying about needing to be home by a certain time. I usually don't work on Sundays if I can help it!

So I guess I'm part of both the problem and solution?
