Trails for viewing wild rhododendrons within 90 minutes of Bend?

Post by jodiwild » June 2nd, 2022, 10:57 am

Thanks in advance for suggestions! Would like to view wild rhododendrons in bloom before June 10 or after June 16.

EDIT: Sorry I missed the 90 minutes from Bend. Might be a tad too far. But if you are in the mood for a longer drive:

The Mazama Trail often has a good bloom of Rhododendrons, but first things need to melt out. I also like Boulder Ridge.

There are lot of Rhododendrons near the community of Rhododendron. That's about 90 minutes from Bend.

Highways that go West from Bend, on the west side of Cascades, have Rhododendrons. Highway 22, 20, 242, 126. A bit closer to Bend.

There are rhododendrons blooming now on the lower section of the McKenzie River Trail, up stream of the ranger station. Blooms are lovely but not an area dense with rhodies.
