I feel the need to share this given the snow at Catherine Creek in this thread from 1/20. I went up Labyrinth today and came across this. Granted I only saw the one on the whole loop.
There was still snow in places, just not much.

Decided to head up the PCT towards Benson Plateau and see where I ran into snow. There were slight patches going up the Herman Bridge trail, but really minimal. After turning left on the PCT and turning the corner patches start to get larger in shadier areas. And when I ran into a down tree that would not have been trivial to get past (and was 15-30 minute from my turnaround time), I decided that was enough - at about 1600'. Definitely need to revisit with a folding saw to trim down some of the branches on those logs.

Railcar Bridge over Duncan Creek is turning out to be my 2022 snow gauge.
Here it is Feb 6.
I figured we'd have a little new snow this week.
Maybe a couple inches new, but I think more that that has melted, so the new snow was just enough to freshen things up and make everything pretty.
Was firm in the morning, getting a little slushy in the afternoon.

A sign of the seasons: we reached 10 hours of daylight today.

On Augspurger Mtn Trail, after you get to the junction with the Dog Mtn trail, the trail beyond there that descends steeply into that valley is a sheet of ice. We didn't go. There is patchy snow on the trail for a quarter mile before that, a couple trees down.

Today's high point was 2800'.
Pretty much what I expected: Less snow, but softer. Compacted areas (boot and tires) were a bit icy (hard to follow without spikes). Non-compacted areas were a bit postholey in spots. But for the most part, it was pleasant enough, even if not ideal.

Nick Eaton Trail above Herman Creek is basically clear of snow at least up to the cutoff junction up near 3000'. There was one or two small snow patches on trail. The immediate section above that is clear but I didn't go far and snow was getting more common and would guess you would start getting a lot more patches in the stretch to Deadwood Cutoff. The first cutoff itself was in shade and cold and lots of snow - maybe 50% coverage, but well tracked on the trail if you wanted to go that way.
I had been planning to do the loop, but it was so dark and cold on the cutoff compared to the sunny warmth on the side where Nick Eaton climbed up that I decided not to be a loop monger and descend the way I went up.

Snow report from Siouxon creek area: N side snow-free until close to the divide between the N Fk Siouxon-Siouxon on the Huffman peak trail. First snow encountered around 3400', mostly continuous by 3600'. Well consolidated, generally walkable, at least to 4000'. This is a pretty westerly area.
As usual, forested areas are more snow-free than open areas, so one might encounter road-blocking snow shortly above 3000', I am guessing.
It all seems pretty spring-like to this person, even if it is still mid-feb by the calendar. I even saw some blooming yellow violets (orbiculata, I think) around 2400'.

Agreed.
Says the skier.
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

Looks great! It snowed for just one day in my hometown and melted, and now spring is coming I have no chance to see snow again ;(
