Oak Ridge Trail has some nice vine maple currently from the bottom all the way up to junction with Surveyor's. The namesake oaks are also turning. Their colors are more muted but still beautiful. Trail would be spectacular on an upcoming sunny day with the new snow on Hood. Watch out for newts!

Aspen groves are turning in the Steens. This is Little Blitzen Canyon in a snowstorm 10/10:

Yesterday I drove from Carson to Windy Ridge east of MSH. Nearly the entire route had yellow fall color, plus red and orange in places especially approaching Windy Ridge.

Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny; if you have the day off and are undecided what to do with it consider this.

The vine maple along the Dog River trail was looking very nice on October 9.

I did the Wahkeena-Vista Point-Devils Rest-Primrose Path loop yesterday. In the fire zone, it's all about the understory, so here are a few individuals that lurk there. (I must say the poison oak is positively ravishing this fall; seems to leap out at me wherever I go.)

Just Peachy, I like that yellow leaves picture. The mass of leaves dwarfs the hiker, making it look grand.

The larches looked AMAZING in the Umatilla National Forest last weekend. There were more larches than you could shake a stick at. Try not to drive off the road as you gawk...

bobcat, that's quite the catalog. All from one hike?

justpeachy that's remarkable. I didn't realize there was a larch forest there; I have only driven past on my way to the Wallowas. Thanks for giving me motivation to camp there some time.

Local roads have been pretty too. I'll put some photos up later.
