One got me slightly but I got him before he finished the meal - so, another draw.
See how bad it's getting? Even the males are biting now!

Oh, I'm embarrassed. I meant no offense. I just keep forgetting the new gender rules.

Mt Mitchel and Sugarloaf, a few miles south of St Helens. start 2400', end 4000'
What a difference from my Mozzie Mizzery a few days ago. Didn't see more than a couple mosquitoes. Heard a few, I guess (that distinctive whine). No bites that I'm aware of.

July 4th, Cedar Cr. Trail/PCT/Grassy Knoll/Alway Tr. loop: No bugs, nada, zip. did the heat kill them all off? Nah, that would be way too good to be true!

South side of Mt Adams - they are there, but not as bad as around the west or north side.

Carl Lake and Table Lake, Mt Jefferson Wilderness: With a stiff breeze and deet, the mosquitoes were tolerable. When the wind died, they were almost unbearable.

Waldo Lake 7/3:
Heard from a friend that mosquitoes were absolutely unbearable, enough to cancel a planned overnight.

Any recent report from Wahtum Lake, whether it is infested up there? This would about be the normal time.

SW of Silver Star on Tarbell Trail, 1100' to 3000', not a single mosquito seen or heard. I was so confident, I shed my hat and long sleeves, thus gaining a sunburn. Dammit!

Loowit 7/9 - no mosquitoes, a few deerflies in the afternoon at Windy Pass/June Lake, but not a plague.
