We wanted to get up there in late June to see the beargrass, but the heat dome put a stop to that. We made it up on July 11 for one last visit before they cut all the trees. Looks like the first mile of trail would be affected by the clearcut. What a shame. It's a very nice forest. :(

Even without the road closure to the old trailhead, you wouldn't be able to hike that way anymore. DNR apparently took advantage of the situation to extend the road from the former trailhead and log all around the first part of that trail.

My son and I hiked this trail on May 16 2022. The road was accessible all the way to Sugarloaf trailhead. Nothing is cut on the trail yet. I will try to go there tomorrow.
