Brushing needed on FR 44-620, for Dog River Trail #675

Post by Webfoot » May 18th, 2021, 2:26 pm

There is a central trailhead for Dog River Trail #675 east of Mount Hood that is in danger of being lost as the road is becoming overgrown. I intend to restore it and put it in the Field Guide.

I started brushing out FR 44-620 but I need help. The remaining portion is less than half a mile but it is the most overgrown and with only loppers and a hand saw it will be a lot of work. There is one fallen tree of perhaps 10" diameter that needs to be cleared; everything else is small growth encroaching the road. The roadbed is in excellent condition. (Closer to FR 44 there are potholes but this section is nice and smooth, just brushy.)

If you are going to be traveling FR 44 and have some spare time please lend a hand.

The road is clear as far as 45.4300, -121.5618 and the trailhead is at 45.43415, -121.56401.

I'd be happy to lend a hand. It would be nice to see you and go for a hike again. I have some new info related to our last hike I think you will enjoy.

My public thanks to both Don Nelsen and bobcat for all the work done today. Together we cleared the road all the way. Some places are still narrow but it is entirely driveable now.

Thanks also to whoever cleared the fallen tree before we got there, whether or not you're from OregonHikers.
