Hummingbirds have been really friendly with me lately. In fact, today they were downright aggressive. One even hovered right in front of my face. Not that I mind; they're interesting creatures, fun to watch.
I wondered if my new red shirt might have something to do with it. My first google result took me to this statement from Audubon: "What is it about hummingbirds and the color red? Red flowers, and of course red feeders, are often rich sources of food for hummingbirds. The color red often signals high-octane fuel for their intensely active way of life."
So there you have it. Wear red, see more hummingbirds.
Want to see more hummingbirds? Wear red!
Re: Want to see more hummingbirds? Wear red!
I have a billed cap I wear when backpacking. It combines white sides with a vivid red/pink top panel. I call it my hummingbird cap. I get at least one visit a day when I'm wearing it. Once I took it off and set it down beside me while I rested under a tree; a hummingbird landed on it, poked at it, then I swear it looked very peeved before it flew off.
