I couldn't imagine being in an area like that surrounded by fire. Even with a unlimited supply of lake water. Wonder what plan 'B' is in a case like that if you loose control of the fire. Swim for it? Steal a boat?

Screen shot of Jefferson area off InciWeb. Basically every bit of Opal Creek Wilderness is in the fire zone, other than the upper reaches of Battle Ax Creek. Fire has been inching towards Elk Lake on the east for a couple of days now and is on the ridge just south of it. Virtually all of Whetstone Mountain is in the burn, other than a few patches on the north side.

And all of Jefferson Park seems to be in there. On the other hand, maybe the meadows will be okay?
Everything west of there, including poor Breitenbush, is in the fire.

Looks like the fire hasn't swept over Bagby Hot Springs and they've wrapped some of the buildings in case it does.

Also looks like the entire area of the 2017 Whitewater Fire has reburned.

FWIW, in OneSpeed's Inciweb image, that's Woodpecker Ridge where the fire stopped. That also is approximately the edge of the Whitewater Burn.

Opal Creek just posted overhead views of Jawbone on FB. Looks like all buildings are gone except Cabin 4. There are only two very similarphotos, but they do indicate that at least some sort of mosaic may have occurred, but it really only shows 100 yards wide by 250 yards long.
Rebuild? Probably, but an organization without an income is not really an organization, unfortunately.

Text from post: "We know that many of you have been anxiously waiting on news regarding Jawbone Flats. Today we received these aerial views from the US Forest Service. As you can see, most of the structures are gone, with the exception of cabin 4. This is not the news we had been hoping for, but there is relief in finally knowing.

We are heartbroken to see the harm done to the ancient forest, and our historic little town. We are also heartened by the number of green trees and the patch of green roof that we've not yet identified. We will now do what Jawboners do: assess our situation and then find a way. But not today; today we grieve all the losses our community has suffered.

Thank you for posting the photos. While it is sad to lose all those historic buildings, the good news is that there appears to be a lot of green in those photos. Hopefully the majority of these burns were more mosaic than stand replacing. Time will tell as we get more info.

There are more photos here from the Beachie Creek Fire Facebook page showing a lot of green. More than I was expecting, but still plenty of burned trees, of course.

Thank you - I've been more focused on the Riverside fire, but it is good to see green in the burned areas. Still significant damage, but not nearly as bad as I was fearing.

I'm hoping they will post more photos of the burned areas soon.
