Heather Canyon fire, trail closures

Post by squidvicious » September 7th, 2020, 12:25 pm

Just noticed this. Says about 2 acres as of noon. I don't see the closure info posted on the FS site yet, so heads up. Hopefully it's knocked down before the big winds kick in

Heather Ibsen, spokeswoman for the Mount Hood National Forest, said the Elk Meadows and Sahalie Falls Trailhead would be temporarily closed, as well as the Timberline Trail between Timberline Lodge and Cloud Cap. Firefighters will be using some of those trails to access the fire, she said.
This seems to be a good guy to follow for updates so far https://twitter.com/JohnKPTV

Hope they knock out this fire soon. It's a beautiful stretch of Timberline Trail..
Good thing is, there's not much place for the fire to grow before it hits treeline, unless winds change more to N or S direction.

On the plus side at least this one appears to under control. Put out with some folks in the area monitoring for any new activity.
