Wahclella Falls trail reopens

I went this morning and was lucky to snag a parking space at 9:30. It certainly didn't take people long to find it after just reopening yesterday. Fortunately most of those people seemed to be heading out as I was headed in, and by the time I actually settled at the falls there was only one other couple around. They were up high on the rocks and I was down low at the water, and I think we both felt like we had the place to ourselves for a while. It was nice to be back.

Just the lower half of the loop is open, for an out-and-back to the falls. Looking over towards the upper trail, it's not hard to see why it remains closed. It looks raw and bare and like it isn't half done sliding. It looks like crews had a job of it getting things cleared and stabilized as far as they did just to get the lower portion open. Definitely appreciated.

Now let's try to get through another Labor Day weekend without burning anything down, please.

Do you have any pics of the fire damage? I hadn't realized they'd reopened Wahclella yet.

Sorry, no pics. A bit weird that I can't seem to turn any up searching online, either, since I'm pretty sure there were news crews out there yesterday.

Great news! The barriers were still up on Sunday and I was wondering if this would reopen any time this year.
