Could be that another post was made while you were writing yours, then it defaults to that goofy secondary submission page.... That's burned me a few times

yes, it is possible I hit "Preview" since it is next to "Submit" I have been known to have fat fingers (or narrow keys).

same here

I'll write something, hit "submit", assume it got posted, later I'll be confused that my post never showed up

Personally, I think it would be better to just skip that, go ahead and post it without warning that someone else had posted in the mean time

ETA: Or move that function to the Preview button, but don't short-circuit Submit.
