A little late here, but you can check this book - really good one, with great pictures and guidance.

Searching for mushrooms, try to look for habitat first, and find the right type of forest - that means different forest for different shrooms (this book tells which trees particular mushrooms prefer, which is helpful). I am seeking wet, old-growth conifer forests for the varieties I like.
