Best Trails for finding mushrooms
I am not a mycology expert and could only reliably pick out maybe 2 mushroom varieties. In hiking Don's Cutoff Trail near Upper Hardy Ridge creek trail about 2 years ago, I remember seeing lots of mushrooms including chanterelles. Today there were only a few mushrooms and no chanterelles. I think we need more rain before we can see more. What other trails seem to have an abundance of mushrooms?

If we told you, we'd have to kill you.
Just keep looking, then you will have your own secret places.

This is similar to asking someone to tell where their good secret fishing spot is. Once it is on the internet, it is not a good spot anymore.
Good luck on finding your own secret mushroom spot.

Did know I was opening Pandora’s box with this question. How about good spots to find truffles?

I know a place where I usually can find find great, edible mushrooms. They are fresh and worm free. That secret place (just a second while I check to make sure no one is looking): The produce section of the grocery store.
As far as trails go...you must be kidding. I'd never reveal that.

I have never gathered wild mushrooms and it seems really hard to get started. I wouldn't try it without careful guidance, and those with enough experience to provide that are so clammed up!

Re: Best Trails for finding mushrooms
occasionally there's a story about people eating wild mushrooms then they die or need new livers
go to an organization like https://www.wildmushrooms.org/ and learn how to recognize safe mushrooms
I have no idea if that's a good group, just came up on google search
