A barred owl came to our backyard on July 4 of this year. It stayed for several hours until dusk came.

Looks like a Northern Pygmy Owl. They toot toot toot like a squeaky swing set, and hunt during the day.

Thank you! I wondered what could be so small, and that one didn't come up in my search. Looks like a match indeed, to my untrained eye.
