I guess that's it then (end of summer)

Okay then. And predicted to continue through Friday.
(I'm being a little dramatic; this is high on Hood, won't affect most hikers.)

What you posted isn't the end of summer, it's just a reminder of why one should never look at just the icons in an online weather forecast. "Snow level 7000 feet" triggers a snowflake because the graphics are automagically generated by keywords.

I predict there will be some good hiking days ahead, probably the best for hiking because there'll be fewer bugs

This. 😂 I wish there was a way to hide the icons.
Will break trail for beer.

Dammit Adam, stop interfering with my panic-inducing hyperbole ;)

Remember last September?

Now that you mention it, no. Not even a little bit.

September 2017 was exceptionally snowy, enough to affect hiking. It never really melted out. It would look promising, but then another storm would roll through. My planned hike for the last weekend of September 2017 had to be deferred a year.

The summit of South Sister looks very misleading on Tuesday. Just below the summit was high wind and freezing rain. We did not see the summit until we reach it. We planned for any weather and we’re glad we did. Certainly felt like winter, but elevation has a lot to do with that. My daughter and I had a nice bonding challenge.

It's getting worse! This one (pic below) is Coldwater at MSH, a mere 3200 feet!
Looks like I'll be pulling the snowshoes out of the garage for my weekend hike. :|
