Viral vandals at Tumalo Falls tracked down, pay fine

It's unclear how the culprit was caught.
I cant imagine that many names fitting on the rail.... :lol:

:lol: Glad to see some modicum of justice here, granting that their offense was relatively minor. Just thin-slicing based on his smugness in the picture, the dad seems like a lost cause. Perhaps the kids learned something from this though (if only that people don't think it's cool to carve your name in things)?

he paid a fine that would pay for fixing it

what about the times people haven't been caught? Seems like the fine should be 10X the cost to fix it.

I hope these fools also had to reimburse all parties for the legal nonsense required to find them, issue the tickets and the administrative expenses to collect and account for the $$. Based on the way the article is written it does not appear that is the case (to me at least).

I wonder if NWFP dollars were used in their identification and apprehension by the USFS?

It's not clear to me why this miscreant gets to remain anonymous? Was really hoping for a perp walk. Is he someone's special friend?

so first the feds hid his identity to protect his privacy, then they gave it up when "pressed" by the Oregonian... :?

What a waste of time and money. I'm glad they were confronted initially but should have left it at that.
