Oh no, there was a trace of rain at the airport

well, we can still work on the record for number of days without measureable rain

And starting over June 29, we still have a chance of breaking the record

Looks like the Portland airport recorded .03" this morning, breaking the streak. :D

Hopefully more rain to come in the next few weeks.

I'm bummed

0.03 lousy inches at PDX. TV news said it was 0.02

39 days without measurable rain, nowhere near the 71 day record

oh well, I'm moving on to the number of days 90 F and above. So far we've had 16. Record is 24 in 2009.

Do you like wildfires or something?

Hopefully the rest of the summer is nice and cool. We have already had our share of heat. The fact that alpine wildflowers are already burnt out in mid-July is testament to that.

all the weather people on TV are blowing a gasket - matched record at 24 days 90 F or greater - it's only August 12, we have another month and a half when it can reach 90 F

Funny how it was so hot in June and early July but not so much since, we've had pretty nice weather lately

I don't think rains affect fire danger because even though there's a few hundreths of an inch, it really doesn't matter, but these hot temperatures are bad

The little spurts of rain don't really do much for alleviating fire danger. I was in the Wallowas this past weekend camping at over 8300' elevation and we got a pretty good shower in the middle of the night. (Saturday night) By sunrise, however, all was completely dry and the only indication of the rain was craters from the raindrops in the dust.
