Beacon Rock Burma Shave Signs ??

Post by mdvaden » July 2nd, 2008, 1:59 pm

Was up at Beacon Rock, and either I missed looking for the signs, or they are gone.

The Burma Shave style...

There were 4 signs in the set if I recall.

I know what they said. Anyone else remember what they said?

Are signs like that on any other Oregon trails?

If you don't know the concept >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burma-Shave

Wikipedia article.

So ...

Anyone remember these - one line per sign, each one level higher ...

- Leaving the trail,

- Is no joke,

- Or you may join,

- The departed folk.

 That is a great one! Too bad I never saw it...

I do remember seeing these style signs along Hwy 80 when going back and forth from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe. Helped me to mark out where we were in the trip when I was a kid!
