Unfortunately, NWTopos never gets updated. But you can also get the latest OpenStreetMap data into your Garmin: check out http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/.retired jerry wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2019, 5:21 amWith my Garmin 60CSx I can download Northwest Topos. Pretty much all of Oregon and Washington. Equivalent to high res USGS topo maps.
Jerry, Gaia premium will allow you to download hundreds (if you count the hunting stuff) of base maps, old usgs, new, Mapbox, imagery, custom maps, etc. All on a nice big bright smartphone screen. Just remember I'm not recommending it anymore lol.retired jerry wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2019, 5:21 amWith my Garmin 60CSx I can download Northwest Topos. Pretty much all of Oregon and Washington. Does Gaia or alternatives do that?
I believe the Garmin download is some sort of vector representation so it doesn't take up too much memory. Maybe with jpg it takes a lot more memory? Maybe with modern smartphones it doesn't matter?
You can add each basemap as wanted, layer them, change opacity of layered ones.retired jerry wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2019, 12:21 pmdo you have to select each basemap? Or can you select a region, like Oregon and Washington, and download complete coverage?
what about those other products that compete with gaia?
That app is terrible at track recording when cycling, it might be good hiking but it snaps to roads over 20kph it seems like which is super annoying if you don't want that. I'm going to write the developer, I can't imagine an app designed to collect data would want that.
