Infinite View--What Can You See?

Post by BurnsideBob » January 6th, 2016, 10:34 pm

I just stumbled upon a landmark ID program from Caltopo. You enter a physical location in the box top left, and then change the view settings from drop down menus top right. Named landmarks visible from the entered location are displayed graphically on screen and are listed (clickable text) at left of screen.

In this example, the viewing location is the summit of Mt. Jefferson. Settings are Standard Quality, "Imagery", and eye elevation 100 feet above location. I clicked Table Rock so the display is centered on that landmark.

Looks like lots of map geek fun for frosty evenings!!
I keep making protein shakes but they always turn out like margaritas.

Wow - this is really cool - I can see myself wasting a bunch of time with it....

Thanks for posting it.
