Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows if the older Iphone 3gs will support functions like downloaded topo maps, gps (locating where I am) and gps(tracks). Being a total recovering luddite I need to ask basic questions like does this phone have enough memory to do these things
So if any of you still have this model phone and it's working for you let me know.

Re: Iphone 3gs and gps, maps etc
One thing that I noticed on the older 3GS I used back in 2010, is that most came with only 8gb storage. Between photos and a few apps, it didn't leave much room for map downloads. 16gb or more helps tremendously
This isn't really answering your question, but starting with the iphone 4, the GPS function is vastly superior. The IPhone 3GS GPS works ok when u have atleast a hint of cell service, but out hiking it hunts a lot for your location. If you can swing $50, an iphone 4 in the woods is night and day a better hiking machine.

Thanks, That is actually the kind of info I'm looking for. It does have 16 gb of storage, but the info you gave me is super helpful in terms of functionality.
