A different way to map topography

Here's a pretty cool tool that displays, through color and shading, from any starting point, which streets in San Francisco would go uphill or downhill as you're walking around town. As you move your starting point around the map, the colors shift to reflect the terrain relative to your location.
Time spent hiking will not be deducted from your life.

Very interesting. There is an implied route from the human icon to each street segment. The simplest way would be to assume the direction is always away from the closest end.
