How to convert "tracks" to "waypoints"?
Re: How to convert "tracks" to "waypoints"?
At first I thought I was an idiot so I pulled out the "track" that was still mixed in with the waypoints and that didn't work. So I exported a single waypoint and that didn't work either. So close...yet so far away...

do you have a file that successfully imports?
or delete everything but one waypoint and save as some other name
then edit it and save it,...

Still no luck. I'm exporting as a gpx file with a single waypoint under different and new names. Still the same syntax error. I have successfully (even now) imported from other sources. Is there something besides BaseCamp worth trying to export from?

Do you have a gpx file that works?
I use mapsource, but that's just the old version of basecamp I believe.
You can attach a gpx file to a post the same as a picture - "browse", "add the file",...
attach the one that doesn't work and I'll see if it works or if I see anything obvious

Hmmm...I'll have to fiddle around with the app. I HAVE imported other waypoints from other sources. I'll try importing the same working track again to see if it works again as it's been awhile. I also emailed the app developer for ideas. I'll keep you posted...
Thanks for your help anyway! I appreciate it.

Okay, I installed basecamp and it imports that file (Timberlinetrailwaypoints.gpx) okay
Re: How to convert "tracks" to "waypoints"?
Yeah that makes sense since I exported it from there. Now if I can just get it into Topo maps on my phone! I tried reimporting the ones before and they don't work again, but the ones already in there work fine. I'm thinking of deleting and reimporting the app.
Re: How to convert "tracks" to "waypoints"?
Whew...finally resolved! Thanks for all your tips. Topo Maps has a "server" option to import the files too. I used that method instead and it worked perfectly. Weird that the other method didn't, since they are supposed to be optional to use either method. Don't care...just stoked that it works!
The BaseCamp tip was great too so thanks for that Guy!
