Over the Hill Hikers and a 92nd Birthday

Post by Peder » February 25th, 2011, 5:45 pm

Eilzabeth MacGregor Bates started a group called Over the Hill Hikers eons ago in New Hampshire. As some might suspect, I love that name, although Mrs. Bates started the group long before she turned 80! I have a copy of her book waiting for me at home, but given that I am still abroad, I have not had a chance to read the book yet.

You can see Ms. Bates talking about her book here.

Anyhow, it is her 92 birthday this Sunday and I thought that I might as well post this link to mark the occasion.
Some people are really fit at eighty; thankfully I still have many years to get into shape…

Yes, definitely an inspiration. Maybe it's the Boomer in me, but "old" seems to be what you make of it. My plan is to hike as long as possible and go "over the hill" as slowly as possible. I may also continue to experiment with bourbon as a preservative.

You go, Elizabeth! I hope I'm doing as well in 17 years!

I plan to keep hiking and backpacking as long as I can put one foot in front of another! So far, so good!
