An E-Book and a map

Post by Peabody » September 18th, 2020, 11:03 am

Came across a cool E-Book. PNW is chapter 7. Anyone seen this book before?

The Project Gutenberg EBook of Glimpses of America, by James W. Buel

and a cool weather map.

those are both cool

I like:
"ROOSTER ROCK, COLUMBIA RIVER.—This grotesque rock, occupying a prominent point in one of the bends of the Columbia River, received its rather inappropriate name from a fancied resemblance to a male chicken. It requires a considerable stretch of the imagination to see where the resemblance comes in, and it is to be hoped the time may come when a more appropriate and picturesque title will be bestowed upon this celebrated curiosity of nature’s creation. Why not call it the Castle of the Columbia? for it certainly looks more like a castle than a rooster."

not a hint of the pun, a slang term for a male sex organ

My favorite is the picture of Latourelle Falls, back when it was in Washington.

I read books on business and households in electronic form. Survival, hikes have not come across before, and Glimpses of America, by James W. Buel have not seen before. But rather, I was just purposefully not looking.
