Very cool map/graphic showing land use in the U.S. The last graphic includes clear-cut and wildfire loss each YEAR. It's interesting that according to the graphic (if I'm reading it correctly) clear-cut and wildfire are equally spread across private/state-federal/corporate timberland.

Fascinating!

Good stuff, what amazes me is the urban growth and the amount of land used to support livestock.

There's a lot of low-rainfall grassland that cannot produce food crops, but can support grazing. That may account for a good percentage of livestock-dedicated land. Then, too, there's lots of corn, soy and alfalfa used for animal feed. People in the USA eat incredible amounts of meat and dairy products compared to the majority of the world.
