Interesting!

Their first post was less than two weeks ago and they already have 3,000+ followers.

I have a sinking feeling that all of those 3000+ followers were already members of the choir that is being preached to, and the major accomplishment of this site will be to make the members of the choir feel righteously superior to the targeted individuals. Whereas, the targets of all this scorn probably either don't know they are being scorned or don't really care, so long as they get lots of clicks from non-choir members. Sorry, but my cynicism has got the better of me in this case.

my Spidey Sense is tingling

This could go wrong

Citizen's taking the law into their own hands

Mob mentality

Internet bullying

Hopefully this will only be used responsibly

If this is bullying, bring it on. Something has to be done to get people to follow the rules which ensure a safe and fun time for us all.

I just came back from a week in Yellowstone...do I need to say more?

If you see someone breaking a rule, especially one that damages something, maybe just go talk to the people and mention what the damage is? Or tell some authority so they could do it?

If people post things on instagram, I could see how there would be cases where someone didn't actually do anything wrong, or made a minor transgression, but would get out of proportion retribution. Or an innocent person would be blamed for someone else's offense.

So quaint... ;)

This harks back to a day when you could rightly say we lived in a civil society. Wish one could still suggest this without immediately conjuring up mental images of bodily harm.

On point Jerry! If one approaches the situation with good intentions and an education mindset rather than being accusatory or condescending I'd suspect that it will go well almost all of the time.

It's so much easier to simply judge others. ;-)

This should be interesting.

Will people listen/change, or will it be like that scene in fight club:

I really want this to be true, I do... But I have yet to hear anyone provide an example of when this has been effective, or how to go about doing it.

There were a couple of guys backcountry camping on Tam McArthur Rim last week who had a raging campfire going. Meanwhile, we were surrounded by wildfire smoke. But who was I to go over to them and politely ask if they knew the fire danger was extreme? How do you think that conversation would go?
Will break trail for beer.
