Yes. It was pointed out while on a boat tour of the lake, probably twenty years ago.

Yep, maybe 20 years ago, from the boat. Looked for it from the rim, every time there, but no luck there. Yet. :)

Yes, I've seen it twice. If you take the boat tour at Crater Lake, that's one of the things the tour intentionally searches for.

Personally, I liked the tour without the stop at Wizard Island better. It's neat to be ontop of Wizard Island, but if you're looking for a view, Garfield Peak is much better. The tour without the island stop goes into more detail regarding the features int he caldera, which I found more interesting.

I've done it both ways, both are good but stopping on Wizard Island & hiking up to the Wizard Island crater is kinda cool!
Either way the Crater Lake boat tour is a lot of fun.

I've spent a lot of time at Crater Lake and still have yet to see the log. I did two weeks in the park for an artist residency and never saw it once!!

Still haven't been to Wizard Island either. They were going to let me camp overnight on Wizard but they boats were put away a week before my residency started. :-(
I take pictures sometimes. And sometimes I post them here:
