I shot this video last Thursday - the flowers are absolutely amazing this year!

Lovely; thank you. Are you using a steadicam or has stabilization gotten that good?

Thank you for sharing. It continues to amaze me. Both the flowers in Spring and the fall red foliage of huckleberry in the blast zone. Without tree cover we will certainly see many more years of the same. Is it me, or is the forest sneaking back into the landscape at an accelerating rate?

Thanks! I'm using the gimbal stabilized DJI Osmo camera. http://www.dji.com/product/osmo

It's amazing to watch the ecology of the area change. The flowers only seem to get better every year! I've certainly noticed the increased forest cover; I think what's happening is that enough good soil has built up that all the saplings that struggled in the ash for so long now have enough nutrients to fuel an ever increasing growth spurt. My guess is that the forest will expand rapidly in the near future, but at the same time large meadows will establish themselves in which trees will have a more difficult time getting started. In a few decades I think we could see semi-permanent delineations between meadows and forests that will perhaps last a century or more before the forest encroaches and consumes the meadowland.
