Clackamas River Trail/ Ape Rock

Post by forestkeeper » August 20th, 2012, 2:56 pm

Hey Everyone. I was hiking my favorite trail this weeekend. I didn't accomplish the out and back as I wanted but I will include everything in my upcoming Trip Report. I was just curious if anyone else have ever came across this interesting rock formation that I encountered about 1 mile W of Indian Henry. It's on a exposed, raised rock outcropping and it is on the N side of the Clackamas River Trail.

It might just be me, but this has a close likeness to a Mountain Gorilla, with its legs and arms wrapped around a tree. The head/ cranial cavity has a definite likeness to ancient American Indian carvings and drawings of Sasquatch. What do you think?

Reminds me of 'The Hobbit' and the trolls that Gandalf fooled into remaining out until sunrise (when they all turned to stone). :) Cool rock!

Ha, that is very cool. I can definitely see King Kong...
