And yes... I used to carry around a carved hiking staff that I made at Scout camp...
What a damn mess. I think, at one point, I had/used just about everything you showed. Even those tents, which were standard issue at a few Scout summer camps.I've got a nicer (shellacked with a leather loop), "ultralight" staff (stick) now, that I still grab every now and then just to be retro. But back then, it was just whatever I found along the trail. Seems there were often "recycled" ones near the take-off point.
