Rock Wall at Oneonta and Gorge 400
On a recent hike I noticed the rock wall along the Gorge 400 trail near the junction with the Oneonta trail. It is mentioned here on Oregon Hikers. I am wondering if anyone has any information on the history of the wall?

I had heard that some of these stone walls were all that remained of ponds used by timber companies when they logged out the ridges above. It's hard to picture this being true 100 years later because of all of the rockfall that has seemingly filled the old ponds, but that was my understanding.

I believe one of the top theories is that it's likely part of the foundation for one of the original wagon roads. Probably built by inmates and backfilled with dirt that's since washing out. That would have been pre highway and railroad.
