Well, the Forest Service planned this work, sent out a contract for bid and... something went wrong. They called it a "bid bust." So they didn't award the contract to anyone.

On my part, I have an excavator lined up so that we can move the boulders at the trailhead. The excavator will be rented for the whole day, so we will work on waterbars and such as we come back down from the trailhead. I also have an 18" culvert sitting around. If someone were to buy a load of gravel ($745 after delivery) we could place the culvert in one of the big, road spanning ruts and backfill it. We are back to small, incremental improvements.

And we are doing that tomorrow. Another joint workday with CTA to block off the motorized vehicle access past the trailhead. If you are up there tomorrow, you won't be able to miss us with the excavator.

I laughed at the first 5 seconds. I imagined you thinking "crap, I can't let my pastor know I'm working on a Sunday"!

For your next video, please show us the reaction of meadow-destroying degenerates when they arrive at the TH and see the new anti-degenerate barriers.

Thanks for your work!

As the video opened I thought for a moment I was watching Cody's Lab. There's a resemblance.

Ha, Chip, that is exactly what was going through my mind. Of course, the Forest Service is also picky about work being done only at the "time and place approved in this document." As for how the illegal wheelers might react, imagine expecting this:

And then seeing this:

There are a total of four tank traps now. We took the excavator up on to the abandoned part of 4109 to dig one new trap and to deepen the existing one.

It does mean that hiking up the old road alignment will be tricky for awhile. And the trail itself is reported to be brushy. But I don't think any trucks will be getting past those barriers.
