Wahkeena switchbacks slide

Post by squidvicious » December 22nd, 2020, 4:16 pm

There is a decent-sized rock slide across the paved switchbacks on Wahkeena. It came down from the hillside above where the bench was, pre-fire, on switchback 10(?). It covers the whole bench area and then spills down to the next two switchbacks below that.

The piles of rock are not particularly difficult to get over and past, but you do want to be aware if there's anyone on the one above you, as they do tend to knock rocks loose, and skulls squish easily when confronted with large bouncing rocks.

The bits of the slide over the trail were relatively well trodden as of midday today (12/22). None of the walls appear to be damaged. They're still shifting, though - second the advice re: rocks!
