There has been blowdown since I started visiting Echo Basin a decade ago, but it has now reached the point that the the "left" portion of the Echo Basin loop (between the creek footbridge and the southern edge of the basin meadows) is nearly impassable. This is unfortunate because most of the Alaska Cedars (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis), which are very uncommon this far south, are located along that section of the trail.
Until such time that that is maintained, I would recommend doing this hike as an out-and-back (crossing the footbridge and doing the "loop" counterclockwise, then retracing one's steps back from the basin meadows).
