Lewis River trail conditions

Post by trailcrew25 » March 12th, 2016, 8:46 am

Lewis River trail logged out compliments of OGWBS (old guys who build stuff) and Forest Service. Four bridges were floated by the flood, two have been fixed, other two fixed soon. One slide six miles in from 9039 rd. soon to be rerouted around. Trail still closed to stock because of two bridges in disrepair. Hopefully fixed this summer. 90 road officially closed for wildlife (elk) until April 1st. Snow on road approximately 4 miles above Quartz creek/ Upper Lewis river trailhead.

Sad day as that scenery was worth more than the money they made! :( One of the best trails that had so much old growth and was an amazing treasure! Did they take the old growth too? Any pictures?

The trail was "logged out", not "logged".

My interpretation was the same as yours, so I too was bummed. However, I'm pleased we were mistaken (and I second your your thanks to the trail crews).

Well, for what it's worth, I knew he meant that the trail had been cleared, and I was totally mystified as to what Mike was referring to until walkin interpreted for me.

Sorry but I'm not familiar with all the trail cleanup speak and it's something I need to improve upon. :o I guess it would have been more obvious to me if it said that a trail crew consisting of volunteers and the Forest Service cleaned up storm damage and downed trees on the heavily used and beautiful Lewis River trail. For the kind volunteers and the Forest Service I am thoroughly grateful! :)

Well, I think I'll move this over to the Trail Rx area just to avoid further confusion…

Don't feel bad about the "logged out" misinterpretation. I worked for the Forest Service one summer and a young woman came into the Ranger Station literally in tears because she had just read the trail updates posted outside the building, and couldn't believe we had chopped down all the trees on every single one of our trails.......
