The snapped top of a bigleaf maple has landed on the first switchback of the trail to Upper McCord Creek Falls, just above the Trail 400/Elowah Falls junction:
Small enough (4-5" in diameter) for handsawing, but directly above the trail section below the switchback, so will need to be dragged a ways.

I think it's really nice the legend is returning to the trails. I was beginning to think Splintercat was maybe just a myth.......kind of like Bigfoot. We'll send mcds on this one Tom.

Boom! Trail cleared - just three days later! A big shout out to the CRGNSA crews -- or anonymous trail angel -- that took care of this so quickly. Lots of folks on the trail today, so it really made a difference. Here's the freshly cleared view:

Just saw this post, months later. That was me who cleared it! There have been a few other minor slides on the trail this winter but luckily no more trees down. Thanks for the great blog post about the history of McCord Creek!
