Well it doesn't specifically answer the question, but the fire that gave Burnt Lake its name was in 1904 (from Hiking Mt Hood National Forest by Marcia Sinclair page 28). So the road probably wasn't built for that fire. It might have been for a later one that isn't mentioned.Koda wrote:My guess is the road was built to fight the forest fire.... FWIW since they arent going to expand the wilderness boundary then it should be maintained since it does lead to a trailhead.
